Co-creation with students
The Digital Experience team work in partnership with students and offer various paid opportunities within the department.
These opportunities are focused on co-creation and peer to peer support, with students involved in all aspects of planning and content creation.
All the roles we provide to students are developmental and our team of graduates are there to ensure the students who work with us gain valuable experience and skills.
Student Content Creators
The Student Content Creators are a team of creatives who write articles for the Student Life website or make content for our social media channels. The aim is to help other students make the most of their time at university by providing useful advice and guidance and insights into their own personal experiences and challenges that they have faced at university.
Designers and editors
We also have students working with us designing posters, flyers, infographics and illustrations for social media. A small number of editors also work with us, contributing to our content strategy, helping to coordinate the students creating content and managing our website and social media channels.
Student Video Producers
Coming from a range of courses and levels, the Student Video Producer (SVP) team work on a variety of projects for stakeholders from across the University. The ethos is student-as-producer; we facilitate the projects, but put the student in the driving seat of forming and shaping the video output.
This student-led approach has developed since its launch in Autumn 2016 into an in-house video production service for the University, with the team being commissioned by Schools and Departments to create a range of video content, as well as providing digital workshops, technical advice and support.
We normally recruit at the beginning of every year via Career Linc to bring in new students to develop and strengthen our team; we also look to work with students on an ad-hoc basis to widen our developmental opportunities to more students. We aim to ensure that the team is diverse, with a range of students from different fields, disciplines & specialisms. This means we can also produce animation, photography, design, narration and much more.
The benefits of this approach are win-win, producing video work internally saves the University money, while also giving the students practical experience in their chosen field and material for their portfolios.
